Home Learning Info

Hello families!

I hope the information below will assist you as we all navigate this strange time in our world.

A few habits to get into:
Each school day between 9-10am I will post a morning video saying hi, checking in, and explaining the activities for the day.
I will then send you to this blog for more details, links to videos, and sometime printouts should you need them.
more info coming.....

Class Dojo: I know some parents are having trouble setting up the portfolio or student account. Mr. William's created a great tutorial that will tell you how to do this in a web browser or on a device. Check it out if you are having at trouble.
This portfolio component is key as it's a great way for students to send in work, and for me to give feedback. It also helps me keep track of all the work coming in, and puts it in a place you can look back and see what your child has done.

Good Fit Books and Writing About Reading
This is a key activity I expect students to be completing carefully each week. Below is a quick run through of the expectations. I only want ONE book completed each week, but I do expect at least 2 discussion questions to be submitted with that. Bonus points go to you if you send me a video of your child reading their good fit book!
I'm sorry I harp on this activity so much, I just have seen immense growth in students reading fluency as well as comprehension (which is SO key) through this program. While we aren't able to be together in person, this feels like one effective way to help your child improve as a reader and a writer as the same time!

Contacting Me - the best way to contact me is through Dojo or email. I check them daily and will gladly get back to you ASAP. My email is mandy.reimer@lethsd.ab.ca
I am happy to make phone calls home, you just need to let me know if you need support and I'll schedule a call with you! You are welcome to call the school at 403-328-9965 and they will get me in touch with you.

The next two links give a quick glance at your child's year. Please feel free to look this over if you want to plan additional learning activities, this is a great starting place!
